How often should I breast pump and how long should each session last?

I just started to breast pump and Im only producing about an oz each session. How long should I leave the pump on and how many times during each day?|||i had a medela they are good, i would wait until breasts are as full as possible and then pump also pump after feeds for left over milk, the more you pump the more milk your body will produce, i also found i had more milk after a nice warm bath, and just pump for as long as milk is coming when is starts slowing or stopping, you stop otherwise you will get tense and frustrated and you cannot produce quality milk when like that good luck.|||If you are waiting until your breasts are full then I would say that you are probably able to produce more than an oz but that can vary per person. Make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable so that the let down can happen quickly and more milk will flow. You may need a better pump and the doctor can often provide one free of charge. Leave it on until the milk is barely trickling out and you feel empty. That can vary from 15-30 minutes. Pump again when you feel full. When you are trying to increase your milk supply it helps to pump more frequently so that your body responds buy producing more milk. I used to pump every 1/2 hour because I was always low. If you can breast feed your baby, try to do it after you pump to see how much milk is left. That is a great way to see if it is actually just a cheap pump.|||Depends on how long your baby will usually feed. You should try 15 minutes on each side. What you get from the pump will most likely be extremely different than what your baby gets.|||Atleast 20 minutes every 2-3 hours is what my lactionist told me to do.
