Were Japanese schools in session during the Hiroshima bombing?

Were Japanese schools in session during the Hiroshima bombing? If not, when did the Japanese school year start in that era, 1940s?|||Yes the schools were in session. This was a bombing in the rush hour of the morning of the day. There were people at work, play, etc. This was not a situation of a military objective, nor was it a deminstration of the power of the bomb in an empty area. The heat and explosive power burned people to a crisp. Those who did not immediately die were severly injured with burns and radiation poisoning.|||Yes, schools were in session.

Hiroshima was a city at work. The streets were filled. Children had reported to schools; it was a time when direct exposure in the open was at its peak鈥hen, at 8:14 AM a prolonged and brilliant flash. Accompanying the flash of light was an instantaneous flash of heat traveling with the speed of light鈥uration probably less than one-tenth of a second, and its intensity sufficient to cause nearby things to burst into flames as far as four thousand yards from the hypocenter, with temperatures exceeding 1800 degrees Celsius鈥hen a shock wave (Liebow 24).|||Well kinda... Imperial schools of that time had Year round classes so yes School sessions were going on. However by 1945 most school children were either getting trained to fight or working to support the war effort|||It was in session.
